Football shirts aren’t just pieces of fabric. They’re title-winning seasons, last-minute winners, iconic away days and that one season we don’t talk about.
At Football Finery, we’re here to help you look after those grail pieces. So here’s some tips and tricks on how to wash them properly so that they last season after season:
If You Machine Wash — Take Care
Handwashing is great, but machine washing is also fine. Inside out. 30°C max. Gentle cycle only - we recommend 1000 or less.
Absolutely No Tumble Drying
Heat destroys old sponsor prints and flock lettering. Air dry only - hang them up and let them breathe.
Avoid Fabric Conditioner
It weakens vinyl and damages older materials. Keep it simple.
Be Extra Careful with Felt or Velvet Sponsors
Older shirts (especially 90s classics!) often have delicate sponsor prints that crack easily. Handle with care and never iron directly. To get creases out, we recommend steaming.
Store Them Properly
No damp cupboards. No overstuffed drawers. Give them space — they’ve earned it.
