DANIELE CONSOLI: 'FROM FATHER TO SON, FORZA BOLOGNA!'

Interview:  Daniele Consoli | Shirt Collector & Kit Community Creative | Bologna Fan.

This is Daniele. Daniele and match worn Bologna shirts go hand in hand. He showcases his growing collection of match worn Bologna shirts on Instagram (@bolognafc_maglie_e_storie), so make sure you check him out and follow his collecting journey. We had a chat with Daniele about his shirts and how he fell in love with the colours of the 'Rossoblue'.

What do football shirts mean to you?

Football shirts, besides being a pleasure to wear at the stadium, are a way to remember moments and players who have made you happy and excited. It's nice to open your wardrobe every now and then, browse through the shirts, and relive unforgettable memories. Because of this reason, every holiday, I bring with me a shirt to make an iconic picture, so that all the world sees our colours.

What is it that makes a football shirt so special?

A football shirt is made special by a combination of factors - the matches played in it, the player who wore it, the nameset material, the long or short sleeves, and various patches. The more distinctive the shirt, the more special it is.

Do you remember your first shirt?

The first shirt I ever owned was a Baggio shirt, obviously a child's version as I was just 6 years old. However, the first shirt in my current match worn collection was Beppe Signori's.

What is your favourite era of shirts?

My favorite shirt designs are definitely those from the 1990s. I just love the style, fabric, and details. Although, I also really like the shirts from recent years, with the match worn stickers applied on the inside of the worn shirts. It's the little details that make this passion even more beautiful.

How many shirts do you have in your collection?

My collection includes around a hundred shirts, all of them match worn. There are so many that I'm fond of for various reasons. For example, my match worn Baggio shirt that I had signed by him at his home. I also love my match worn Di Vaio shirt from 2008 - the year he scored 24 league goals. And of course, my match worn Calafiori shirt, which he wore in the match where he scored his only two goals for Bologna.

What is it that hooked you to Bologna?

I started supporting Bologna from an early age, all thanks to my dad! He took me to the stadium when I was little, instilling this beautiful passion in me. And that's where it all started for me. This is why in Bologna we say, "From father to son, Forza Bologna". It's so special!

Do you remember watching your first game?

One of the first matches I remember was against Bari, and the first European match I remember was against Fulham in the Intertoto cup - we got tickets given to us from our school. I don't remember who scored, or the result, but the feeling of going to my first games will always stick with me - it was amazing!

Do you have a moment from following Bologna that you’ll never forget?

The two most exciting moments was the first away Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield and also the Coppa Italia final, when we won 1-0 against Milan. They were so special!
